The dreamers shield. You began as a prayer. In the darkness I ask and you are the answer. But before this you were parts and particles floating around and stuck to the tip of my brush. I dream my paintings, and paint my dreams. Catch me in the darkness. Listen. Your teachers are with you always. This is how I honor you.
~Dedicated in memory of G. K. and all my teachers past, present, future~
Lost drum circles. We arrive at the canvas. Heron, your tall majestic stance is fleeting. In the dark stumbling around grasping for a broken rope. Canoe to carry us with a weeping moon. Let go. Drift down dark rivers.
Dance. Our lost drum circle. Stamp our feet around the fire. In the dark we begin to rise. Lost brother lost sister we drum each other home. Renewal power and grace. Fierce commitment. What say you? Listen, watch the movement of each feather.
I am honored to have these pieces displayed at Pegasus Art Gallery in downtown Corvallis as part of Nov/Decembers ‘Moveable Feast of Art’ this November and December.
Working layer by layer, opening up to whatever may appear, I let the painting carry me. Having just immersed myself in recreating ancient markings and art of pictographs in Bahia del Los Angeles, this painting emerged. Alive and dancing…
A few close ups of the layering work. Writing, dry brush forms, paint, spray inks, black gesso, gel pens and graphite.
Yesterday I held a great art journaling workshop at Imagine Coffee. A really fantastic way to start off at the new venue!
Everyone did really great work! Best part by far- seeing students reconnect with their creativity. Watching them as they splattered paint, ripped paper and played with colors brought me so much joy!!! What wonderful energy they brought to the workshop!
Art Journaling really has great capacity for good! Heart is feeling full. I humbled to be a part of their creative journey.
All images used with permission from my most amazing students.
A HUGE Thank you to all my students and to Imagine Coffee for hosting. I can’t wait until our next session! Until then, Happy Journaling!

I used to play with pastels, no expectations of the outcome, just exploring colors and textures. When I ran out of paper, I started to use paper bags… the materials were not the most important thing, it was the action of exploring the art that was! Here are a few pieces from back in the day I recently found. I hope to do more soon, just to play!
